140 Chickens Rescued!

September 10, 2010
When Animal Planet called, we had to help. While filming for a show called Confessions: Animal Hoarding, they discovered more than 130 roosters, hens and chicks who needed homes. So they contacted the experts - us!

It took nearly 5 hours late into the evening and 4 staff members to corral all the birds, who were living in a maze of hand-built enclosures in the backyard and home.

The birds have undergone a health check and are surprisingly healthy, considering the situation. They've gone from a hoarding situation to sanctuary, and they're settling in great!

The daunting task is placing all the birds, most of whom are roosters, into permanent, loving homes. The birds are a mix of Silkie bantams - they come in a variety of sizes and colors. These are some of the prettiest birds we've ever met!

Want to adopt chickens? Email or call us today! Adopt one or more roosters - we'll waive the adoption fee upon approval!

To adopt or for media inquiries, contact Marji Beach at or 530-798-5114.
