Joe Rodota Trail - Santa Rosa

UPDATED 11/26/13

This was originally scheduled a Marsh Creek Trail ride, but since Scott cannot make it and no one else other than Zach and I (Russell) has RSVP'd yes, we're changing the ride to hook up with fellow BARC member Nanda on a ride he's organized in Santa Rosa. This ride will be about 27 miles round-trip on the Joe Rodota & West County trails: http://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Get_Outdoors/Parks/Joe_Rodota_Trail.aspx

Copied from Nanda's posting:

"Come join us on for an informal casual paced ride along the Joe Rodota trail from Santa Rosa, through Sebastopol to Forestville and back.

TOT stands for Trike Optional Tour, but all modes of human powered vehicles are welcome. If you happen to have a recumbent trike, maybe bring it along as it would be fun to have a big trike squadron touring down the bike path.

We'll start promptly at 9am at the Goodwill store parking lot off Stony Point Rd. and Hwy 12 adjacent to the Joe Rodota trail. There is a good burger joint, Carr's drive-in located Forestville for a bite to eat mid way, and coffee/rest stop on the return trip at the fruit stand along Gravenstein Hwy.

Kids, families, and trailers are welcome :)"

Amazing weather for the first day of December. I just posted 7 photos to the photo album for this ride. If you want to see all 34 photos I took on the ride, they are here:

Nanda, thanks for organizing this ride--NICE set of trails on this ride and another wonderful day of weather for riding. The West County Trail was especially memorable. Good to see John, Russ & Judi again too!

Sounds like a fun ride; sorry am missing it. Still hoping I may be able to start riding again, post my recent surgery, around the beginning of the new year. Major issue initially may be loading my trike or cycle, as I will have certain weight lifting limitations. Perhaps for the REB 'Bay Trail' ride, at least, Russell or someone coming close by my home can help me load my cycle. We'll see......perhaps even this won't be necessary as I am optimistic about my current rate of recovery. Looking forward to seeing folks on the trail again in the not too distant future. Cheers to all.

You got my number, no problem at all stopping by your place on the way to load the bike/trike!

Look forward to meeting you Scott. Looks like the weather should be great this weekends. Hmmm, now which trike to ride ;)

Nanda, Scott can't make it--doctor's orders. Zach and I will carpool to Santa Rosa.

I may not be able to make this ride, I'm going to the dr. this morning for possible blood clots in my leg.

Uh-oh. I hope for good news. I'll call you.

I do have clots in my calf, Dr. said to avoid strenuous activity, so I'm going to have to bow out.

I'd be interested in doing this ride if I can find a carpool from the Alameda, Oakland or Berkeley area. Or would anyone be interested in riding to Oakley and back from the Pittsburgh BART station? According to Google Maps it is a 13.2 mile ride going the most direct way or 14 miles taking the Delta de Anza Regional Trail.

Zach, I'll be in contact with you to confirm and arrange timing, etc. I'll meet you at the Pittsburg BART and we can ride to the start.
