FREE Sunday Concert at Stern Grove..Last one of the year

Stern Grove Festival

Have you guys heard of the free summer concerts in Stern Grove?? This coming Sunday will be the last one until next year!! For those of you who have been meaning to go (like me) or have no idea what I'm talking about (like Marcus), please come! The renowned San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Opera Orchestra will perform a selection of operatic favorites.

Concert starts at 2pm and ends at 4/430. This is a very popular event. The park fills up very quickly so we have to get there early to secure spots. It's pretty much stadium seating, each level being made of either stones or long tree trunks. The earlier we arrive, the better the view. So, if we can all meet at the Stern Grove entrance (19th Ave. and Sloat Blvd.) at 1030am, we should be good.

It looks like Sunday is shaping up to be a beautiful day. I have my fingers crossed for great weather but it's in the Sunset, which can get pretty chilly. So bring layers (and a blanket) AND sunscreen (and maybe a hat).

The venue does serve hot dogs and garlic fries and such but I suggest everyone bring a snack or two. And definitely bring wine or beer or whatever it is you want to enjoy good company with.

I'm really excited about setting up this event. I'm sure many people have never been to Stern Grove. It's a shame. This is an incredible park! Entering Stern Grove is like entering an enchanted forest. You really feel like you're not in the city anymore. The setting is beautiful, full of tall redwood trees and winding trails. Everyone living in SF must visit here at least once.

Public Transportation:

Muni Metro: take lines M Ocean View or the K Ingleside and exit at the St. Francis Circle stop. Walk West one block to the park entrance at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.

Muni Bus: lines 23-Monterey and 28-19th Avenue stop right at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.
