What we're about

SFBay.js >= JavaScript Study Group is a student-led study group.

Who is this study group for? - All JavaScript levels are welcome. Although most of us are beginner students (BTW, there are "no" teachers in this student-led study group), advanced students are welcome to join and help out the beginners. You can meet people, talk about JavaScript related technologies, find a mentor, or someone to study with or do pair programming with.

What is the Text Book / study plan? - As a beginners study group, we are starting with this beginner's book: Beginning JavaScript, 5th edition (February 18, 2015), by Jeremy McPeak and Paul Wilton, ISBN-10: 1118903331, and ISBN-13: 978-1118903339. This is the Amazon book page:

When do we study together? - We usually meet on a weekly basis, on Saturday afternoons, and do our best to read and practice, first individually, and in advance (before the weekly meeting), as much as possible of just one book chapter per week, so we can discuss that weekly book chapter, ask and answer questions during our weekly meetup's.

What if I miss a week or two? - If you miss any weekly meeting, you should still be able to discuss that weekly book chapter, online through our Slack channel.

Slack Channel / Online Community Support - Our Slack team name is sfbay.js and our Slack team URL is (just message this meetup organizer if you wanna be added to our slack team).

Note: If you have extra time, you can also follow the "beginner's" weekly studying sequence recommended at:
