Blue water expedition

I am coordinating an open ocean pelagic expedition leaving from San Pedro Harbor on Saturday, May 3 (we board Friday evening).  We hope to photograph, free dive, and interact with - blue sharks, molas, and any other temperate pelagic / migratory species we may come across. Makos, Salmon sharks, and a variety of other sharks/whales may or may not be seen.

Because this is a blue water expedition miles off shore, there is no scuba diving, only free diving. If you feel comfortable enough to free dive in blue water, please bring weights along with your snorkel gear and wetsuit.

No promises on what we will see, this is a blue water expedition and there are no doors in the ocean. I did this once before and got lucky to see a mola, a sea lion, and a blue, but the expedition did require a lot of patience and waiting and the blue showed up at the eleventh hour. There are no guarantees that we will see blues and other pelagic life and there are no refunds.

If and once the shark(s) show up, the shark wranglers get in the water first to get the shark(s) acclimated, so they do not simply swim away when we jump in and try to take pictures or video. Because of the chumming, the trip to blue water, the small size of the group, and the shark wranglers, these shark expeditions are considerably more expensive than regular local boat dives. Even though I arranged a good deal with the Captain of the boat, it will be about twice as expensive as a regular boat dive.

The boat leaves San Pedro Harbor at 5 am on Saturday May 3, so we would board the evening of Friday, May 2. We are looking at a group of 10 explorers,  returning to San Pedro at 10 pm on Saturday, May 3.

Please email me if you are interested so I can share the details!
