Peak-Bagging Tour of Griffith Park

Griffith Park is a nice oasis of open space very near downtown LA. There's many points of historical interest to examine along the way, as well as a number of peaks.  The hike will visit them in the following order, essentially west-to-east: "Burbank Peak", Cahuenga Pk, Mt Lee (home to the hollywood sign), "Mt Chapel", "Mt Bell", Mt Hollywood, Bee Rock, "Beacon Hill", "Glendale Peak".

Although much of the milage is on fire road, we will also use some steeper ridge-line use-trails.

In order to cover the most trails with least effort, we will set up a car shuttle: the meeting point will actually be the end of the hike.

Stats: 13 miles, 2000' gain. (approximate)

This is my 1st hike with SGV. Not sure if this hike was on. Only 4 showed up out of 17 RSVPs. By 8:10 am there was no hike leader. It was cold so Arun and I took off. There were no posts for an explanation. Hope hike leader did not get into an accident on his way. I went on my own hike instead. Only positive is Griffith is close to home and I know the trails somehat. Can't imagine if I had to drive an hour for a group hike and end up hiking solo.

Sorry I have to miss this hike, I've been fighting a cold and I'm no way near well enough to make the hike,

Basically, it'll depend on the group... I prefer somewhat to take the steeper ridge trails where possible, but it's not necessary either- in any event, none are particularly long.

The Bee Rock shortcut was specifically the portion I meant by "steeper ridge-line use-trails", fwiw.

I'm a slow hiker and I wouldn't want anyone to wait for me. Is this a "hike your own hike" kind of hike or do you keep the pace to the slowest hiker?

To answer your question: we generally wait for the slowest hiker. However, if you don't want us to wait for you, we are fine with that - just make sure to mention it.

This is a car-shuttle though, so we actually DO have to keep together unless you band together with another slow hiker...
