  • Cochran Shoals-Columns Drive

3990 Columns Drive, Marietta, GA (map)

    33.921799 -84.438347

  • Last hike of 2016....can you believe...

We'll meet at the Columns Drive Parking lot and hike through Cockran Shoals to Sope Creek and back a different route. We'll get in 6+ miles in 2.5 hrs.  This is relatively flat with some mild inclines.

We will meet at the parking area on Columns Drive (2.5 miles off Johnson Ferry Road) at the north end of the Cochran Shoals unit.  There are restrooms available.  We will meet by the gate entrance to the gravel path just past the restrooms.  Trail starts on the gravel fitness part then we will go into the woods, around a lake, up to the Sope Creek parking area, and return.

    How to Get There:

Depending on where you are coming from there are various ways to get here.

Take I-285 to Riverside Drive - Exit 24.

Travel north for 2.4 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.

Turn left (north), crossing the Chattahoochee River past the CRNRA Johnson Ferry Unit.  Turn left onto Columns Drive and travel 2.5 miles and go straight into the parking lot.

$3 parking daily pass is needed, unless you have an annual Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area.

We are meeting at the entrance that is along Paper Mill Road. You require 3 dollars cash for a daily park pass if you don't have an annual pass.

If you have any questions please email/call/text Barbara at [masked] or[masked]

Make sure you bring plenty of water and a snack if you need it.  Bug spray for this time of year.
