You are still welcome to submit your member requests but please be aware that Sistas Living Life will be on a brief holiday break starting Dec. 5, 2016 followed by a brief hiatus to allow the Founder & Organizers time to plan for 2017. Member requests will still be reviewed during this time.
All S.L.L. Groups will have their Opening 2017 Meetup on Saturday, January 28th. The significance of this date is known to those within the organization.

Please read the 3 Points below in regards to becoming a member of Sistas Living Life (S.L.L.). Although our Meetup.com is our platform to initially connect, we are on a journey to build a worldwide organization of sistas. All member requests will be considered but not all will be approved. Be sure to take the time to complete the required Profile Questions thoroughly.
Point #1: BEFORE requesting to join and to ensure S.L.L. will be a good fit for you, read the entire 'Group Description' AND watch this video from the Founder of Sistas Living Life, Erica: https://youtu.be/utzSpHbrHw4
Point #2: Once your request to join has been received, it will be reviewed and you will either receive a 'Welcome' email or a 'Decline' email (with a brief explanation). Again, be sure to take the time to complete the required Profile Questions thoroughly.
Point #3: Dues/fees are not required to become a member of Sistas Living Life.
Sistas Living Life welcomes positive, like-minded sistas who identify or would consider themselves to be 'a woman of color' - including my sistas who are multi-racial.
The S.L.L. Vision: Our vision is to become the global, go-to social organization for like-minded women of color as young as 21 years old up thru 60+.
The S.L.L. Mission: Our mission is to gather like-minded ladies, which organically creates a welcoming social environment, cultivates authentic friendships and meaningful connections, all while having FUN!
Why do ladies join Sistas Living Life (S.L.L.)? The main reason ladies join S.L.L. is because they’re in search of a social outlet that surrounds them with other positive, like-minded women of color. The culture and sense of belonging within our groups is so refreshing. We are building a brand that will be known all over the world. Come be a part of helping to build a legacy for women of color.
The Top 5 reasons ladies join S.L.L.: 1) Being new to the area and wanting to create an authentic network of friends; 2) The desire to step out of their comfort zones and be more social due to being an introvert, shy, or not a people-person; 3) The need to expand their existing circle of friends outside of their usual friends, family, and/or co-workers; 4) They have more time to socialize now that their kids are getting older or they no longer have kids at home (Empty-Nesters); and 5) They have retired and are looking to explore social options.
S.L.L. Pride: We pride ourselves on not consisting of 'cliques.' As a woman, I'm very conscious of how easily cliques can form and how isolating this can make others feel. It is a huge priority for all Organizers, Assistant Organizers, and I to make sure every sista feels welcome, comfortable, and a part of the group when attending events.
Socially Awkward/Shy/Introverted: If you fit into any of these categories, you will find it interesting that the founder, Erica, once fit into all 3 categories. Had she not been brave enough to start this organization, she might’ve still been socially awkward, shy, and introverted. Be bold and try out S.L.L. and send Erica an email sharing your thoughts – she’d love to hear from you!
What do S.L.L. Groups do for fun? Movies, Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch/Dinner, Bowling, Local Sightseeing, Festivals, Girl's Nights Out, Happy Hour, Book Clubs, Variety of Local Events, Game Nights, Karaoke at Local Clubs, Natural Hair Sessions, Poetry/Spoken Word Events, Weekend Getaways, Safaris, Shopping Trips, and much more. We're always exploring something new to do! Suggestions are always welcome.
How many meetups per month? The goal is to have a minimum of 2 meetups per month from January thru October. Due to the holidays, increase in travel and family visits, the months of November and December may have 1 or no meetups at all. Severe weather can also affect the number of meetups held in any given month.
Activity Disclaimer: We don't pledge to capture all of your interests but we will strive to have a variety. I strongly encourage all ladies to explore other meetup groups in the area to address specific interests such as fitness, crafting, business networking, photography, etc. We may tap into these areas occasionally, but none of them will be a primary focus.
Brief History of S.L.L. – On May 9, 2010, Sistas Living Life-Fayetteville, NC was opened and thrived until June 2014. Erica, the Organizer & Founder of S.L.L. made the difficult decision to temporarily close the group while she relocated abroad to pursue a career opportunity. As she promised, the S.L.L.-Fayetteville, NC group was re-opened on Dec. 4, 2015. Erica is on a mission to open S.L.L. groups all over the world.
Where in the world are S.L.L. Groups? We currently have 7 S.L.L. Groups located in both the United States (US) and in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In the US, we have 5 groups in North Carolina (Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington) and 1 group in Virginia (Richmond). In the UAE, we have 1 group located in Dubai.
