Macro shoot

Have a macro lens gathering dust? Let's use it by getting up close and personal with Mother Nature. We will be shooting flowers, including Dahlias, at the Conservatory of Flowers, in Golden Gate Park. While shooting outdoors at the Dahlia Dell is free, the Conservatory itself has an admission fee of $7.

Highly recommended

Camera

Macro Lens (preferred)

Tripod (outdoors only) - Please keep in mind that tripods are not allowed indoors at the conservatory.

Despite the weather, I ended up with so many beautiful pictures, that it hurts to look at them :). Thanks, Eric for organizing this event!

Plenty of parking in front right now

I think this weekend is the massive Outside Lands festival in the park - so parking will likely be very tough. Best to leave a bit more time to find a space?

    August 9, 2014

    • Eric

indeed! just sent out an email regarding the same. See you there!

Does this group want a docent tour by the Dahlia Society on Saturday? Some members will be there Saturday and it can be arranged.

    Hi Eric,

Are you familiar with these close-up filters?

    http://www.amazon.com/PLR-Close-Up-Digital-Cameras-55-200mm/dp/B002P9HXMW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407271512&sr=8-2&keywords=nikon+d5300+macro+lens

Are these okay instead of a macro lens?

    Thanks.

    August 5, 2014

    • Eric

      No. I can't say I have

They used to allow tripods indoors... for a fee. Is that no longer the case?

    1 · July 22, 2014

    • Eric

The site stated: Tripods are not allowed inside. (Permits are required for commercial/ professional and school photography).

I donot have a macro lens, but i guess 18-55mm kit lens should be fine enough?

    July 22, 2014

    • Eric

      It should.

  • Snjezana

Sooo I don't have a macro lens but I'm interested- what can I get out of it with my basic Canon Rebel setup?

    July 22, 2014

    • Eric

While a macro lens is preferred, this is not closed to anyone who is interested in taking closeup photography. We are going to practice taking photos of nature from a different perspective.
