The first SPS meeting of 2014 is on Friday, January 3rd. The competition theme for the month is “Windows and Doors.” Windows and doors have long been a staple in fine art images. Although this competition is not open to all subjects, the theme is certainly open to interpretation.
Our guest speaker and competition judge is David Akoubian. David’s goal is to share many of his favorite images and educate people who want to learn about his techniques in photography. He stresses in his workshops and classes that it is important to have fun, but it is always such a great bonus to walk away with images that help us recall the fun we had while visiting a location. David invites you to explore his photography site, Bear Woods Photography--http://bearwoodsphoto.com/. He hopes they inspire you to go take images and have fun. David will make a presentation at the SPS meeting on "Making the Scene Your Own." David will discuss ways to make a somewhat common scene different and therefore your own. He will address how decisions you make composing the scene can change the mood and feel of the image.
Reminder: It is Membership Renewal time.
SPS Monthly Meetings (First Friday of each month) are for its members and guests. While competition entries at these monthly meetings are restricted to currently paid-up members, we ALWAYS welcome visitors interested in photography to attend. The Learnshops (Fourth Tuesday of each month) are intended for members, but again, we welcome visitors. If you attend regularly, we ask that you help support the club (which pays for the rental of the facilities, supplies, and equipment) by becoming a member!
