Updates

Survey for individual portfolio/photography work review. Click here to access a 2 question survey around a future session on having your work reviewed by one of SPS’ experienced members.

We have a fall exhibition that will be included in the ACP program. The theme is “Atlanta Seen”. More information will be forth coming in the Call For Entries announcement that’s expected in the next 2 weeks.

SPS will be participating in this years NGC3 shootout to be held in Chattanooga TN on September 16. Greg Comstock will be captaining the event but we are in need of a co-captain to help organize our SPS team. Look for a future Meetup event announcement.

The club has purchased an LED light that should help with the print reviews. We are also looking to have blackout drapes made to put on the sun side of the Fellowship Hall. Those will not be in place until June’s meeting.

Upcoming Events

Tonight’s meeting will be with Mary Margaret Cornwell, Photography Curator at the Booth Museum. She’ll be covering how she came to the Booth Museum, her background, archival preservation, and the upcoming gallery exhibit, “Ansel Adams: The Masterworks”. John Mariana will be handling the evening image reviews. Theme for the evening is “Reflection”.

Tomorrow, May 6 is our first ever Atlanta Street Car tour.

Saturday, May 13 is Coffee & Critique. Bring up to 3 prints to share with the group.

Friday-Sunday, May 19-21 Battle of Resaca. This event has been posted to Meetup but will not be hosted by anyone. However, we will answer any questions you may have.

4th Tuesday Learnshop for May, May 23, will be conducted by me. The topic will be about preparing to shoot the upcoming solar eclipse in August. Look for a Meetup announcement in the near future.

Thursday, May 25, APS is sponsoring a presentation by world-renowned photographer Jim Zuckerman.  It will be held at 7:30PM at First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. Decatur.  His presentation will be based on how he has dealt with numerous challenges while traveling and shooting. He will also weave in some interesting stories, like the stupidest thing any photographer has ever done!


Sometime this month, we will post a Meetup field trip to a local garden. This will give our members a chance to hone their skills and gather some macro images that you can use for June’s theme “Macro”.

Friday, June 2 general meeting with David Akoubian. Dave’s program be about “Celebrating 100 years of our National Parks. The evening’s image review theme will be “Macro”.

Saturday, June 3 will be an unhosted event Shady Dale Rodeo. A Meetup announcement will be made soon.

Saturday, June 10 is PDK Good Neighbor Open House from 12PM to 5PM. No entrance fee but parking is $10. This will be unhosted.
