What's happening at SPS in October

What’s happening at SPS.

The themes for 2018 have been selected and will be announced at Friday’s general meeting and posted to Meetup sometime during the weekend.

Our ACP fall exhibition at Emory University Midtown Hospital was installed and reception held this past weekend. Shari Creech and John Mason juried the exhibition and made their final judging prior to the reception. If you have some time while you’re in the Midtown Atlanta area, stop by and see our show.  Images from the reception and awards.

Congratulations to the following winners:

1st Place – Atlanta Rising, Al Levine
2nd Place – Dog Day Afternoon, Jeff Milsteen
3rd Place – Chihuly in the Garden, Myrtie Cope
4th Place – Georgia Pacific, Jack Martin
Honorable Mention – Liberty Plaza, Paulo Lopes
Honorable Mention – Spot On Atlanta, Carl Fredrickson
Honorable Mention – Atlanta's Lunchroom, Emmanuel Petkas
Honorable Mention – Incoming Storm, Tom Simpson
Participants’ Choice Award - Liberty Plaza, Paulo Lopes

Our SPS team did not fare very well at the most recent NG3C shootout in Chattanooga last month. Thanks to those who participated. We promise to have a better showing for the region’s best photography club.

SPS and the Atlanta photography area lost a dear friend, Roy Gordon, to cancer last month. He has been a member of SPS for nearly two decades including a past president, and past president of the Roswell Photographic Society a couple of times. I will miss his council and dry wit.

Upcoming Events

Friday’s SPS general meeting will be a presentation and adjudication by travel photographer David Anglin. Our competition theme for October is “Shadows”: A shadow is a dark area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. The shadow must be an integral part and focal point of your image.
