Chris, Happy New Year….

I wanted to follow-up to confirm that you will be able to join the Southeastern Photgraphic society on March 1 as we previously discussed.  Billy Howard presented at our January meeting and he was fabulous.  Below you can see some of the email chain that we had before and after his presentation.   I do hope you can make it.  We would like to be able to post on our website the title of your presentation  and some of your background info.

We are looking for approxitmately  a 45 to 60 minute +/- presentation of  your photography and the experiences that you have along the way.  Billy for example,  showed only 13 images but he had a great story behind each.  Other presenters show projects or specific personal projects that are a special interest to them.    Thereafter we’ll have you comment and judge ( closed door) images from our members.

Thanks again for considering to participate in a evening at our monthly SS meeting.

Billy, I am back from Yellowstone with many new memories.  Here are a few of my images. https://gregcomstock.smugmug.com/Best-of-2018/Recent/

As, I  mentioned before, I would like to ask if you would be able to suggest other photographers who would be interested in presenting to our organization.  Paulo Lopes, is our VP of Programs and we would certainly get in touch with those whom you would feel  would be able to share their story, images  and assist us in our monthly judging of our monthly theme.

Thanks again for contributing to SPS.

All my best,  Greg

Billy I just landed in Bozeman Montana getting ready to head towards Yellowstone. Thanks for the kind words regarding our organization and the time you had last night. I also want to share that several members, commented directly to me how much they enjoyed your presentation. Hopefully we can do it again. As mentioned, I will reach out to you in the middle of the month for some additional names for potential 2019 presenters. Thanks once again.

Hey Greg,

I thoroughly enjoyed last night and was astounded by the quality of all of the photographs in the contest, it was an honor to judge them. Most of all, the audience was so respectful and warm to me and my work, it meant a lot to be able to share it with such a thoughtful crowd.
Several mentioned interest in volunteering with ACP and I look forward to their participation!
Have a great adventure in Yellowstone and get in touch when you return, I know several people who I think your members would enjoy, and I know they would enjoy the Southeastern Photographic Society.
And thanks for the gift cards, unexpected but appreciated!
Cheers,
Billy

Billy, thanks in advance for your participation in our upcoming January 4th 2019 SPS meeting. We are excited to have your join us.   Below you will find our itinerary for this evening.

I have posted your presentation overview on our meetup site.   You can find it at https://www.meetup.com/SPS-Meetup/events/256937610/

 January 4, 2019

Meeting Location and start time: 7:30 PM A

Our meeting location is in the Fellowship hall at the Clairmont Presbyterian Church.   Their address is 1994 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033.  We'll plan to start as close as possible at 7:30 PM.  If you could, please arrive no later than 7:10, we'll run though the program logistics in advance and provide you with access to the projector and remote for the laptop and provide a microphone for use. Let us know if a Speaker System for a video is needed. We will provide a MacBook Pro with Keynote so all you need is a USB drive with a Keynote presentation and you’ll be ready to go.

Your Presentation: 7:40-8:30 PM  (45-60 minutes approximate)

Our club, while it has all levels of participants, generally has a strong knowledge of photography. We look forward to your presentation and your guidance to our member’s knowledge base.

While our theme for the month is "Open - Vintage" there is no requirement to incorporate this theme into your presentation materials. Your presentation, A Baker’s Dozen: The Evolution of a Photography Career in Thirteen Photographs will be perfect.

Competition and Adjudication: 8:45-9:30 PM  (approximate)

Our meeting theme is "Open - Vintage" - This month we allow our members to share any image theme taken at any time in the past.  Our approach to this annual event is to allow members to share past images that they have taken the time to reprocess as their post processing skills have improved.

After your presentation, we are very excited to have you adjudicate our monthly competition to gain your perspective on our members themed images. We would like these adjudicated based on how they would be juried for an exhibition.  We will have three sets of images, Digital, Color and B&W. For the digital set, we will run thru them very quickly (1-2 seconds each), to obtain a silent impact of these images and then we will ask that you comment on each one the second time through. To speed the process up (we expect 25-35 Digital images) 20-30 seconds of comments is usually enough.

You may prefer to stand behind the projector where you can see the true tonal qualities of the images on our provided laptop rather than judge the image from the projected screen. However, that is up to you.

After the adjudication, we'll take a 5-10-minute break to set up the prints and lighting while you score two honorable mentions and 1-4th place (your favorites).  For B&W and Color Prints, we'll follow the same format, except they will be presented on an easel, individually (no run through), with appropriate lighting.

On behalf of the entire Southeastern Photographic Society we look forward to your participation. I can be contacted at[masked]. Let me know if you have any additional questions that need to be answered prior to our meeting.

The address is provided once again below.

I have a title for the talk:

A Baker’s Dozen: The Evolution of a Photography Career in Thirteen Photographs

I usually show a lot more work but decided it might be better to slow it down and tell stories behind some images that are meaningful to me.

Have a great weekend,

Billy, I’m excited that you have agreed to be our presenter and themed image showcase judge for the Southeastern photographic Society’s first 2019 meeting of the year on Friday January 4th.

As we discussed, below you will find my stab at an announcement for this meeting in blue. Please feel free to revise or approve if you feel its fine.  I will post at our website spstlanta.org upon your response.

You should expect 60-80 attendees to be in attendance. While I’m sure that you could speak with us for an extended period of time, we generally prefer a 45-60 minute presentation so we can begin our Image Showcase that we would like you to quickly critique. This timeframe will allow us to finish around 9:30.

I will send you logistics/location etc.  for the meeting later in December.

Thanks again for joining us.  All my best. Greg

Billy this is great!  So glad to have you present at SPS this next January. Generally our monthly program (we actually have three standing meeting/gatherings a month),  consists of a presentation from a professional for 45 minutes to an hour and then comments and critiques of our monthly theme.  I will send particulars in the middle of December. Meeting location is in Decatur ( Clairmont Presbyterian Church 1994 Clairmont Rd Milligan Building — Fellowship Hall · Decatur, GA)  and generally we expect 60-70 attendees at this meeting. All you need is your laptop with you presentation and we’ll take care of the rest.

I will post a portion of your bio as presenter after I receive a presentation title and a short description of your topic.   I would personally like you to share your background and some of your work and projects that you have recently completed and may have planned for next year.  Of course your role in ACP and how it has evolved and what is in store for 2019 and beyond.

I’ll give you a quick call to follow-up.

Thanks so much for helping us kickoff SPS 2019.

Mr. Howard,  last year I contacted you ( below)  in regards to your potential interest in speaking to the Southeastern Photgraphic Society. Unfortunately,  you were not able to join us due to other conflicts with you schedule. I would like to inquire again if you could be able to present at our Friday, January 4th, 2019  meeting here in Atlanta with a topic of your choosing or about your role with ACP and how its been received in Atlanta.  Our Organization had three gallery exhibitions this year of which 2 were with ACP.  I would like to discuss how these contributed to our goals.

Thanks again for considering us. It's our role to provide guidance and gallery opportunities for Atlanta area photographers.

Mr. Howard, I was speaking with Chris Savas earlier today asking if he would present some of his work to the Southeastern Photographic Society. Unfortunately, due to a family move, he is not able do to timing.  I have worked with Chris on location here in Atlanta and he suggested that I reach out to you to see if you would be available on Friday July 13 to present to the Southeastern Photographic Society.

The Southeastern Photographic Society is celebrating its 42st year as an organization in the Metro Atlanta area. It’s our goal to promote photography through many programs, events and workshops each year. With over 2100 photographers that have access to our programs and 256 regular active members, we have provided over 450 activities over the last six years.  Our organization is made up of professional photographers and serious enthusiasts. We hold several contests each year and are active in Atlanta area photography events such as Atlanta Celebrates photography each year in October and November along with other gallery showings as well.

When would be the best time to set up brief call to discuss in more detail.
