How long have you been riding motorcycles? (years, estimated cumulative miles to date)

Started riding as a young teen in the mid 70's on a Honda 70. Fun with my Kawasaki Enduro 175 took me into my mid 20's, and since then it's been street bikes. Total miles? 100,000+

What kind of bike do you ride? (make, model, cc)

Previous street bikes; 1984 Yamaha 400 Special (traded a drum set for it), 2001 Yamaha Road Star (bought it new as college graduation gift to myself), Now I thoroughly enjoy my 2001 Royal Star Tour Deluxe, 1300 cc, V-4. I also picked up a 2008 Road Star 1700cc that I stripped down to a beefy solo bike.

Please describe your group riding experience. (# group rides/years riding with groups/group riding roles you have filled)

Exciting! I started riding in groups in 2001. Most groups were poorly organized, bordering on dangerous. I took what I learned from other groups and started leading my own rides with an emphasis on safety and discipline within the group. I found that riders not only felt safer, but enjoyed group riding more because they weren't so stressed. Soon I was being asked to lead rides by others. I joined my first STAR chapter in Florida 2004, my second in Woodbridge, VA 2006, and now I am a founding charter member of STAR Chapter 474, Manassas, July 2009. I was asked by the interim president to lead the second ride of this newly formed chapter, and at our lunch stop just half way through my ride, I was asked to be the chapter's Ride Captain. I proudly accepted, and have honored that position ever since.

If you are already a member of STAR please list your chapter name (if in one), the last 5 digits of your membership number and expiration date. Also please ensure your profile photo is a picture of yourself wearing your STAR vest. Thank you!
