Did you know?
* 51% of people 75 and older live alone.
* Research shows a 26% increased risk of death due to subjective feeling of loneliness.
* 6 million adults 65 and older have a disability that prevents them from leaving their homes without help.
* Research from the Journal of the American Medical Association found that 43% of older adults report feelings of loneliness.

Research also shows that technology can help combat loneliness and isolation in older adults.

Join us this month as Jane Ratliff of BH Technology, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of seniors in Greater Atlanta, will explain how using today’s technology can help seniors enjoy a happier, healthier, and longer life. We’ll learn how BH Technology instructors get older adults to feel comfortable with, and engage in using, “new-fangled devices,” like PCs and smart phones, and apps like Facebook and Instagram. We’ll talk about the challenges of content management and curriculum maintenance with an all-volunteer workforce. And Jane will show us a few tricks that even those of us who deal with technology daily may not know that our phones can do.
