Welcome to the Monthly MeetUp Poetry Group. We are a group of "occasional" poets who write for our own enjoyment, then get together once a month to share our writing with each other. Our group was founded December 21st, 2002 by Laurent Seugnet who served as the Organizer until June of 2008. When Laurent stepped down, Babbes stepped in as organizer serving from July of 2008 through February of 2010. Donna Witteried served as Organizer with Billy Foster as her Co Organizer from March 2010 thru Feb 2013. Ed Kindley then stepped in for his turn at Organizer in March of 2013 through September of 2015. My name is Michellee and I am your current Organizer along with Carlos Zeisel as your Co Organizer. As you can see we have a long history behind us and a bright future to share with you in front of us.

Our meetings last 3 hours (1 hour social; 2 hours of poetry) and are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Our meetings will be held in a different members home each month. A day or two ahead of time the address and directions will be forwarded to those who have RSVP'd yes to attendance. You will absolutely need to RSVP or directions and location will not be forwarded to you. We suggest you bring two poems with printed copies to share with everyone. Some of our members are a little hard of hearing and we want to accommodate them as best we can. If you do not care to circulate your poetry which we do understand, please bring printed copies and collect them at the end of your reading. Generally, each member brings a snack or a drink to share with the group.

St. Louis Poetry Meet Up was instrumental in the creation of the Open Mic at Stone Spiral Cafe every Wednesday evening. We are no longer officially affiliated with the event however, we still encourage our members to stop by from time to time as their schedule allows and participate in the Open Mic forum. Open Mic is a wonderful event for you to find comfort and validation with your art and yourself.

Poetry Matters,

Carlos
