Agile is just how you build software these days. Without the right agile engineering practices and culture, though, agile projects can fail just as badly as any. In this talk, Dan will dive into all of the interconnected components of how Pivotal Labs builds software for their clients and themselves, and share why Pivotal's agile culture has made the company a household brand and into one of the biggest agile dev shops in the world. He'll talk about how projects are kicked off, team organization, stand-ups, 100% pairing, test driving, the involved customer, the agile office environment, even breakfast! Lastly Dan will touch on Pivotal Tracker, the project management app Labs created to support their practice, and how Tracker is evolving to suit the needs of larger, multi team projects.

Dan Podsedly is VP and General Manager of Pivotal Tracker.

He has been building large apps ever since the Smalltalk era, and has been a practitioner and coach of Agile methods since the first days of Extreme Programming. He has led projects in a variety of industries, and brought about adoption of agile methods at some of the world’s largest and most well known web companies. These days, Dan runs and is the product manager for Pivotal Tracker, Pivotal Labs’ popular agile project management and collaboration tool.

PIVOTAL TRACKER is the award-winning agile project management tool that enables real-time collaboration around a shared, prioritized backlog.
