Dependence. The sheer number of us who are so wholly dependent upon the services of others that even minor inconveniences become life-threatening situations startles me continuously. Yes, the possibility of a major, large-scale disaster resulting in some societal breakdown or long-term survival struggle is a concern, but I think the lack of basic problem solving skills and general competence in our society is far more alarming.
I'm always excited to talk about hunting, fishing, and trapping with anybody that will listen. I have a "I subscribed to Mother Earth News" level understanding of off-the-grid living, and would love to develop a more advanced skill set.
I've been interested in this group since Trebs told me about it, and when she asked me to come talk about trapping that was all I needed! I grew up in rural PA and have loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and simple living all my life.
