What do you wish your Engineering Leaders would learn from other Engineering Leaders? What are some of your best stories about EL done well, or done badly?

Leadership starts within. High levels of consciousness and emotional intelligence precede enlightened leadership. Great leaders build the self-esteem of their people and encourage their teams to tackle what seems highly unlikely or impossible.

Are you seeking a mentor? Are you willing to be a mentor? What areas would you like to discuss?

I learned everything I know by watching other people lead badly and by making tons of mistakes myself. A list of the top 12 most frequent mistakes appears in my book "Scrappy Project Management", available on Amazon.

What topics / speakers would you recommend for this group?

Engineering Leaders and people who can help technical leaders successfully make the leap from technical leadership to business and people leadership.

What Kimberly W. is saying about this Meetup Group

This group is the only SIG (Special Interest Group) in the SDForum organization dedicated to the professional development of technical people into business management and people leadership roles. Leadership and management have a huge impact on the results of a business, so people in these positions need to invest in improving their skills. Getting support from other colleagues in similar positions is vital to the career success of these people as well, as they tend to have higher-risk jobs and need to maintain a healthy network at all times.
