What do you use or want to use Linux or OSS for?

To access NASA software for image processing and xray spectral analysis.

Introduction

I'm a retired engineer/physicist that is interested in astrophysics. I am studying galaxies and shock waves. This drives me to understand Linux and use it to process the latest astrophysics images. I am trying to learn linux on my laptop.
