Apple Hill Hike

Just in time to enjoy the cooler fall weather while eating an apple dumpling from Apple Hill!

We are going to meet at Grandpa's Cellar Apple Farm #17 at 11:00 to begin our hike through the orchards. Grab some hot cider and meet us on the patio area of Grandpa's Cellar. From there we will take their cute little nature trail over to the Apple Ridge Farms #20. Once we are at Apple Ridge Farms #20, we will take a one mile hike around their orchard and over to Bolster's Hilltop Ranch #45. Once here we can enjoy craft, cider, wine, pies and lots of jams. Feel free to pack a lunch or enjoy all the yummy things they sale here. After we are stuffed from eating all the sugar filled treats, we can hike back to Grandpa's Cellar. There you can reward yourself with their awesome apple dumplings! Don't worry after all this sugar and exercise, the kids will crash out in the car on the way home! The total hike is about 1.5 miles roundtrip. Most Apple Hill Farms are opened hours before our hike if you would like to explore other locations.

Check out the website:

Directions: Grandpa's Cellar is located in the heart of the upper part of "Apple Hill" in the foothills, midway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The ranch is located 8 miles east of Placerville. From Highway 50 take the Camino exit left across the freeway and then stay to the right to the town of Camino. Past the Forester Restaurant and Post Office turn left on Cable Road. There is a small playground for the Community Church at that corner. Drive 1 mile. We are on the left side of Cable Road. Look for the Apple Hill Grower's sign!

It was great start to our hiking adventure....and we had a mini winter wonderland w/ the hail and snow. The food was great as well!

Apple Hill does get very busy during Sept and Oct, that's why I wait till November. We've never had a problem with traffic jams or parking because these orchards are on the east side of Apple Hill and in the back. Should be a good time if it doesn't rain. I'll be watching the weather reports to determine if I need to switch it to Sunday. I'll keep you posted! :)

We went last year and didn't have a problem with parking or traffic. Hope this year will be the same. There is more parking at the other end of the orchard behind Grandpa's Cellar.

those that are going need to car pool on this saterday. it's the worst parking ever and the line of cars is horrendous. you'll be a solid hr in traffic on a two lane road. sorry to have to post this but you need to be aware . its worth it as well. we might go.

I'm not familiar with the area. Is there a parking lot near by?
