Ask an Atheist at Zoo Hot Rod Night

Arrive anytime! This Atheist Pride Day wear your bright blue "Ask an Atheist" t-shirt at the Sac Zoo for a real 50s zoo experience! Hot rod cars, live band, 50s diner dinner specials and cool drinks at the zoo café! Plus the beautiful animals (evolution's finest!)

Ask an Atheist t-shirts are available from Judy Saint, $10, at the zoo or send her an email through SacFAN. What better way to educate the public about atheists than to show everyone we are also friendly animals, who don't even need a cage as some seem to think! Join us for fun, food, music and being visible as a good citizen atheist on this Atheist Pride Day.

Has being an activist ever been so much fun?

By the way, we are there to have a good time while making friendly eye contact; we do not approach anyone. If we get a question we can't answer we say we don't know. With a smile. After all, we're just normal people - which is exactly what we're trying to show. Thanks for coming out! It's the most important thing we can do to try to help this interesting species that we are.

Zoo admission, which includes Hot Rod Night, is $11.25. Food is extra. Come along! It's time to visit Darwin's friends again.

Excellent chrome-laden hot rods! Fun band. We had some actual questions and conversations this time. It was great!

Can you give me some examples of the questions you got?

"What am I supposed to ask" which gave her the courage to follow up with, "Do you think Jesus Christ lived?" ... "Ask an Atheist - Why Bother?!" ... Two high school girls stayed in a long conversation, coming from the questioning side, relating how they get bullied at school if they don't pronounce their Christianity ... Several people said, "We're with you." Another guy said his wife is atheist, as if to please us. ... In other AaA events I've been asked, "So after you die, that's all there is?" and "Aren't you afraid of being wrong?" ... I didn't see any thumbs up this time for some reason. That's usually what I get.

What sizes of shirts does everyone need? Let me know so I can have them with me inside the zoo, in the backpack. $10 - bright blue, says, "Ask an Atheist" on it. Don't be intimidated - we usually get thumbs up, and you only need to be yourself. I have Sm, Med, Lg, XL, XXL. Your size, please?

I'll be just inside the entrance wearing my bright blue t-shirt, then after a while I'll wander over to get a hamburger. There's a chance I might be late, so take my cell number with you and call me if you don't see me. Just hit **judysaint. It's a Star-Star number. It rings my phone, really.
