The Sac City Freethinkers is asking for a secular group to come on campus next Monday and Tuesday, whatever times you can. "Project Truth" people will be on campus. They're the anti-abortion group with the big disgusting dead fetuses display.
The student group decided that instead of a pro-choice group coming to counter them, a secular group would be better. The reasoning is that a pro-choice group just makes this a left/right political argument. But a secular group could point out that Project Truth is really just a fundamentalist religious group and if there is no god, they have no grounds for their argument.
Please help us provide some small-t truth. This is not arguing abortion issues, this is arguing separation of church and state. We need voices to point out that anti-abortion should remain a personal decision without the interference of religion-based laws.
We have been asked to wear "Ask an Atheist" t-shirts (fine if you'd rather not). To get a shirt, message me through SacFAN and I'll deliver on Saturday morning or later afternoon, or we can arrange something. Not a problem. It's worth it. You should have your own, anyway, just sayin'.
Instead of all of us appearing together, this activism event has been spread out to better provide more presence during the entire two days they'll be there. See Don's comment on the Tuesday event for more details. So, get your shirt over the weekend and let Don know when you expect to provide activism coverage, or ask Don when they need more coverage. His number is[masked]. He says he'll be on campus the whole time.
It's our first counter activism (that I know of), but surely not the last. Please lend your presence, and report back!
Parking is in the back lots for visitors.
