Second Saturdays: Origins-Christmas

  • Bayside Church

8211 Sierra College Blvd, Roseville, CA (map)

    38.747162 -121.225229

  • The room is 418, which is across Cavitt Stallman Rd. from the main church buildings. It's near the Student Center where we've often met.
  • Origins of Christmas, a potpourri of discussions

As the year winds down, and so does our series on origins, we'll be tackling a bevy of holiday topics, including:

-Christmas:  How Christian is Christmas, and does it matter?  Is there a war on Christmas, and if so, who's waging it?

-Rituals:  Rituals come and go.  As U.S. society grows both more secular and more diverse, what role will or should rituals have in our futures?  In our government?  What rituals will bond our cultural identities, or what will replace them?

-Jesus' Birth:  Most everyone accepts Jesus wasn't born in December, but how about those mythicists saying the biblical Jesus wasn't born at all?  What is mythicism, and how relevant is it?  Does the Bible hold the only evidence for or against Jesus?

Bring your opinions, your evidence, your questions, and your answers to the next dialogue as we continue our ongoing series covering origins of every sort, now tackling the roots (and modern versions) of the Christmas holidays.

And look forward to the new year, when we'll restart the discussions back at square one: Beliefs, and how to discuss them.  If you can't make it this December, make sure to make it in January for a new beginning!

Multi-Belief Discussions, where we freely disagree.
