Sweetwater Trail near Salmon Falls Bridge

Title: This is a nice moderate hiking trail with some short up and downs and one small creek.

Description:There are a few rocks in the path but nothing difficult.   Bikers use this trail as well.  The overall length is about 6 miles round trip but I only drew about two  miles on the map. The hike comes out on Salmon falls road, about a mile south of the American River bridge.  There is a small parking area there, so you can start on the end opposite the bridge if you would like.  Also, if you cross Sweetwater creek at the end of the trail, and then forge your way across the lake bed (that is usually dry in the summer) you will find a paved parking area.  It is probably only 1/4 mile from the end of Sweetwater.  This is another Folsom Lake recreation area, but is much less known and used than the one at the bridge.  At one end of the parking lot is a hiking only trail.

I was with Tom, Christine, Tina and Anna. It looks like the mix up was due to the instructions found on the Everytrail link found in the invite. Everytrail shows Sweetwater Trail but the directions are actually for the South Fork Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park.

Hello Carol! Well, I didn't find our hike group, but wanted you to know that I found The Sweetwater Trail! I hiked from about 10:35 -2:30 on the trail, crossed to go over the pedestrian bridge over the Am. River & took (what I found out later was the Derrington Trail, which climbed into the hills some. BEAUTIFUL TRAIL AND BEAUTIFUL DAY! Was sorry I couldn't find you all. Asked other hikers if they saw a large group, & they said yes. NEXT TIM, Carol, I won't be so tired & worn out in the morning & will be on time.just wanted to say thanks for offering up such a nice hike!! Hello to all out there, & hope to catch you later on another hike!!!

I was with Tom, Maureen, Christine and Anna. We had a nice hike. We parked in the free dirt lot, walked across the bridge into a paid parking lot with restrooms. Still have no idea where Sweetwater Trail is located. Want to make sure you are aware I wasn't a "no show".

We must have gone to the wrong place. There were 5 of us at the wrong place. We went to the bridge and ended up do a hike towards Cronin Ranch. It was pretty nice, but I am sorry I missed y'all.

Would love to join if everyone's cool with it :) I promise he's a happy baby ;-) will check this in the early morning. thanks!

Would like to add 1 to 3 guests if possible.

    March 4, 2014

    • Carol S.

Wendy, instead of allowing guests, what we ask is to have the guest login in and sign up as a member then rsvp yes. We do this for liability as everyone has to sign paperwork. It also gives an accurate account of hikers as i have a limit on this hike.

Carol, although I now live in Arizona, I'm hoping to get over to Sacramento this summer, and take a hike with you. I really am glad you are doing new trails for Trail Mix. Hoping to meet you soon.
