What we're about

Welcome to the Sacramento chapter of the Sierra Club Inspiring Connections Outdoors (Sacramento ICO). ICO is a volunteer community outreach program that provides outdoor opportunities for young people who don’t have many chances to explore and enjoy the natural world. We take children and youth on fun and educational outdoor outings such as hikes, backpacking, camping, snowshoe and snow play, river rafting, and nature walks. We are part of Sierra Club’s Mother Lode Chapter (http://motherlode.sierraclub.org/), which covers 24 counties in northern and central California.

We're glad you're interested in joining us in sharing the joy of the outdoors -- from sandhill cranes on the wing to a child's first snowball fight -- with under-served youth in the Sacramento area. Because we work with youth, new members must apply and go through a background check before you can join us on a trip. Please fill out the application forms found here: http://content.sierraclub.org/outings/ico/sacramento-ico . (Scroll down to the header "Volunteers," where you'll find the forms and instructions for sending them to our Volunteer Coordinator.)

Once your background check is complete, we'll approve you for the Meetup group and you'll be able to see all event details and RSVP.

It's a bit more work than joining other Meetups - but completely worth it when you experience the pure joy of a young teen seeing the ocean for the first time and other magical moments. Join us!
