What we're about

Sacramento Women’s Chorus builds community through song. We sing to honor peace, justice, and social equality, and to celebrate the lives of all women. We strive for musical excellence as we give voice to women’s hopes and dreams, opening hearts and minds through harmony. We Love to Sing!

The Sacramento Women's Chorus is a non-profit group of diverse women who are building friendships and community through our love of music, dedication to musical excellence, and commitment to performing music which reflects the lives of all women.

We are led by a professional music director and perform various types of music. The chorus encompasses all skill levels and offers members a supportive environment for singing, improving choral skills, and growing together. We rehearse on Monday evenings from 6:30pm-9:00pm in the Sacramento area. We rent rehearsal space in a church; we are not a religious choir and are not affiliated with any church or religion.

The Sacramento Women's Chorus is one of the oldest women's choruses in the United States. We are an established chorus; NOT a typical meetup group. We are using the meetup forum to share our chorus with women interested in becoming committed members of the SWC.

We welcome adult women of all ethnic backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, physical abilities, and stages of life. We are looking for ladies who have a love of singing, ability to sing on pitch, and desire to become part of a singing sisterhood. An ability to read music is helpful but not necessary.

We expect SWC members to commit to: practicing on their own, attending weekly chorus rehearsals, attending monthly sectional rehearsals, attending special all-day rehearsals (usually before our concerts), singing at various scheduled performances, and volunteering to assist with many other chorus needs and duties.

If you are an adult woman in the Sacramento area who loves to sing and are looking for a place to share in the joy of music, we might be the chorus for you! Rehearsals are "closed" (no visitors) to allow us to focus on learning our music; visitors are welcome at our Guest Nights where you can take the first step toward joining the SWC.
