Sacred Fire East Tennessee is just one of many small communities around the world, part of Sacred Fire (http://www.sacredfire.org), providing monthly community fires in seven countries on four continents. We create opportunities for heart-felt connection and community in a time of isolation and disconnection from ourselves, each other and natural world.
For our ancestors, Fire was the center of community, where stories were told, community issues were resolved, and people came to refocus, renew, and process the events of their day.
The elemental presence of Fire - as Heart - can provide the balance we seek amid the challenges of today's world. It's a source of wisdom, transformation and compassion.
As part of this Meetup group we ask each member (ember) be willing to commit to the following:
• post an updated authentic photo of yourself
• attend one event within a four-month period
• RSVP to events you want to attend
The fires are open to people from all walks of life and all traditions, or none. Sitting in the sacred space Fire provides, we share our lives, our stories, our gifts, and receive the respectful support of community.
As part of creating Sacred Fire at both Community Fire and Women Fire gatherings, specific offerings of wood, copal (tree resin), chocolate (cocoa beans), and tobacco are provided and offered to the Fire by all those who wish to participate in this exchange/ceremony.
In respect for each other and the sacred space created, the consumption of alcohol is not allowed at potluck dinner or around the Fire. Illegal and recreational drugs are not allowed at any event locations.
