Capt. Thaddeus B. Kubis will be telling us about some of his sailing endeavors which he documented with his camera.
Thad holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master license (100 ton) with a sail and towing endorsement.
Over the past few years I have made a series of long haul trips including sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Annapolis, Mallorca, Islas Baleares to Rome,Italy, multiple, six day trip to the Bahamas, an 8-day from Grado, Italy to Palermo, Sicily. A series of long weekend trips on my boat to various destinations in New England. I am an American Sailing Association certified Keel Boat and Catamaran Instructor. I managed a series of "privately owned" yachts in NYC as their Captain.
Over the past 5 years I have also served as a corporate trainer, using a sail boat and long weekend sails to build highly functional management teams that are often times dysfunctional in the corporate setting.
In the past 12 months I have assisted in the delivery of sailboats from New Jersey to Greenport, New York, Huntington, New York, to Newport, Rhode Island and Montauk, New-York-to-New-York City.
I speak regularly on sailing, sailing and photography and other sail related topics.
I designed a very popular iPhone app SAILING LOG; this app allows a sailor to track a trip and other relevant data on their iPhone while sailing coastal or offshore and is available on the Apple App Store. I have also completed the three-day Basic Diesel Engine Course offered by Mack Boring and developed the Interactive Sailing Rating Sheet being featured on www.boatinglocal.com (http://boatinglocal.com/) and on cruisingworld.com (http://cruisingworld.com/).
Thad was selected as a consumer judge for the Cruising World 2012 Sailboat of the Year selection process; he was assigned to rate 5 - 31 to 39 foot sailboats while attending the Annapolis Boat Show. The results of that effort are featured in the January issue of Cruising World Magazine.
