Perseid Meteor Shower 2018
Milky Way and Perseids at Mirror Lake. This is a Sunday Night/Monday morning event because that is when the peak is for this meteor shower. The Perseids is one of most prolific meteor showers we have and this year it is during the perfect time with no Moon! Location: https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B042'03.5%22N+110%C2%B053'13.3%22W/@40.7019231,-110.8874531,16.25z/data=!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x8751e4a4d7f6853f:0x52cff8fdbd4a372b!2sMirror+Lake!3b1!8m2!3d40.7043916!4d-110.8888204!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d40.7009619!4d-110.8870254 The first 2 hours we will do some Milky Way photography. Likely at a different location. But once midnight hits, the peak for the Perseid Meteor Shower will kick in and we will just find a spot setup our cameras and shoot the meteor shower until the sun gets in the way. So bring a chair because once that starts, you setup your camera and can fall asleep until the night is done. Bring plenty of batteries for your camera. Also whatever drinks will help you stay awake. What is needed: Camera Batteries Tripod Recommended Red Light Headlamp Chair Good reading material Warm Clothes An Intervalometer. Method to take shot after shot after shot without having to tell the camera to take a picture. Some cameras have it built in, some you have to buy a device and attach to the camera.

What we're about

This group is open for anyone with a desire to improve their photography skills. We will have an emphasis on night and landscape photography, but are open to any style or type of photography. Eventually I would like to see this group grow into camping trips and hikes as we gain members, develop our abilities, and work on trying new styles and types of photography.
