What we're about

If you're single and age 30-55 and looking to meet nice, happy, laid-back & fun single people, let's get together for a healthy meal, night out, drinks, walk on the beach, hike, game night or local events. Looking for non-judgemental, friendly, professional people. If you're outside the age range, you're still welcome to join us...we just had to define a core group.
This group has different hosts, so send a message to the event host for more information about a particular event. Also, IF YOU HAVE EVENT IDEAS that other people would enjoy too, be a Meetup host! Just send Bonnie (Meetup Organizer) a message with info about the event: Date, Time, Description, and Address, then be at the event to meet people.

FULL MOON BONFIRE BIG POTLUCK PICNIC! Fifteen Multi-groups @Mission Bay! Music!

Come celebrate 2019! FULL Moon BONFIRE and TGIF! BIG Potluck PICNIC BONFIRE with STILL FREE fifteen Multi-groups! Please bring some dry firewood if you possibly can! Much appreciated! NO ALCOHOL allowed at this event. Dress warm and have warm jacket, beach chairs and firewood in your car, thanks! Celebrate TGIF with hikers/explorers from more than 15 other active Meetup social groups. Grab your beach chairs, nice potluck food and utensil for it, some cold sodas, a jacket in your car, maybe a flashlight/lantern and some dry firewood appreciated! Main courses or big entrees are best for this potluck group, bring something that YOU would like to eat, so then you know it will be there. Please specify what you are bringing in your rsvp, you can also update it in comments here closer to the event date. If you need ideas, plan something YOU like or stop by Costco and pick up a party tray or their spiral turkey sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc. Or bring large fresh pizzas, cases of sodas... NO ALCOHOL! (or glass) is allowed on City beaches, they might come around and check. They DID drive by on beach a few months ago. NO ALCOHOL! $400 fine! Potluck starts about 5pm but come as early as you can for best parking, maybe play games or walk a few miles along beautiful Mission Bay while you are down there. I (Steve, the Event Organizer) will go very early and most likely get the furthest West double picnic tables and closest fire ring. (The Sun sets in the West, for non-scouts ) Walk the sidewalk to the North-West end and then look for us at the double picnic tables and closest fire ring nearby. Notice: the powerful lawn sprinklers may possibly come on after 9 pm and soak the grass and picnic tables area, so let's put leftover food and dishes/utensils/bags away in cars well before then and move everyone's chairs over to the sand close around the fire-ring after dark before 9 pm. The sprinklers mostly did NOT get us for the last year, no guarantees for this month with the drought and all. They came on briefly about 10 pm over a year ago, a few people got lightly sprinkled. Hanging around the picnic tables/grassy area after 9 pm could possibly get you a bit wet; only fun if it has been a warm day! Coming North on H-5 take Clairemont Dr offramp and turn West, crossing 5 and then turn right onto E Mission Bay Dr. Go to De Anza Rd. Coming South on H-5 you may take Balboa/MBayDr offramp( or if very heavy traffic at Balboa ramp just continue South on 5 to Clairemont Dr turn off ), proceed straight on Mission Bay Dr thru six stoplights before taking sharp right turn from right lane just before entering 5 South again, West into N Mission Bay Dr, turn right at stopsign and go North to De Anza Rd. IF you miss that sharp right turn and end up on H-5 South, you can still take the next offramp Clairemont Dr and get on E Mission Bay Dr going North along there to De Anza Rd. ^^^A Red STAR mylar balloon hung on an orange umbrella top, or find us later by the West-most fire ring on the sand. 3 lanterns on our table. FREE Multi-groups Urban Trail Hike- Marian Bear Park ~ 4 miles

Relatively easy mostly flat trail hike after initial short steep access down from the cul-de-sac at North end of Biltmore St. in North Clairemont. Wonderful initial forest-type canopy over the dirt trail alongside a little creek with ponds, until coming out into the main broad hiking trail in the center of San Clemente Canyon/Marion Bear Park. Many huge sycamores and oaks in this City open-space park with a wide main trail and small stream with some ponds that may have minnows and some orange crawdads if you are lucky/observant enough and go in the wetter season. Some birds so if you bring binocs you may be able to ID different species. We saw a big hawks soaring overhead last time, and previously a little skink on trail- SKINK not skunk. Previous years we have seen lizards, rabbits, ducks, a rare iridescent golden bumble bee, a beehive, a huge great blue heron startled us as it flew from a pond 15 feet away, and even a tiny snake last summer... Also we have had a closeup of a redhead woodpecker that popped out of its hollow and stared us down from the tree trunk close by the beehive. Great place to exercise walk and commune with nature for a little while as we tune out any noise from H52 which runs along the North side of San Clemente Canyon. There is some poison oak growing under the trees and off the trail, but we don't venture off the trail or into any bushes so we don't touch it. Meet us BY 1pm at the North end of Biltmore St, at the trailhead post on sidewalk there. Early parking in the cul-de-sac, later comers please park up the hill by Capehart street. Please don't block anyone's driveway. We have a bunch coming from hiking groups also. Quite a big friendly group usually assembles there for this casual fun local hike. Be on time! Dress appropriate for the weather/temp ( any rain cancels ) and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a bottle of water and your camera, hat and sunscreen, binocs if you like to see birds up close. Park bathroom is about halfway along this hike. None at trailhead. You are solely responsible for your safety and well being on any event posted by this group! No organizer/host of this group is in any way liable for any injury or misfortune that could occur. Rsvp YES here confirms your acceptance of responsibility. We sometimes get a nice big group for these easy urban park hikes, as you can see at the full bridge. Relatively easy exercise and still FREE multi-meetups group events HERE !
