Saturday Morning Paddle

We will be launching at 8:00am Saturday morning near the Coronado Ferry landing (see map). Not sure where we'll go from there probably straight across the bay. But maybe down to the Coronado Bridge and around there.

This paddle will probably last about 2 to 2.5 hours and will probably be around 4 to 5 miles in length. This is a fairly easy paddle most early mornings but occasionally we will experience boat or large ship swells and some confused choppy water around the docks and sea walls. Boat traffic is usually light on Saturday mornings between 8 and 10am, but if you’re not real confident with paddling in boat wakes or choppy water and 5 miles seems like a long paddle than I suggest you pass on this paddle. Parking is in a free public parking lot (see map) and beach launch spot is about a 150 foot walk to the waters edge.

I was a little worried about the rain for this Saturday's paddle but just looked at the forecast and it will be gone by Friday night and it will be back up to 75 degrees on Saturday...Yaaahooo!

Now as long as I don't get struck by lightning while I'm out paddling tonight everything will be good. :)

The trick is to paddle next to the tall guy and use a low angle paddling stroke so you don't attract the lightning to your paddle....ha :)

Yea Greg I thought maybe you'd kind of over done that a bit lately.

We could still go over there if you want, maybe it's changed.

Oh, ok. I've never paddled over there for some unknown reason. I think it would still be cool to check out the boat docks around there and maybe they have changed it so it has water access now. We can decide Saturday morning. Thx

Hi Rohit, my guess is that this paddle might be a little much for an inflatable kayak with a familly of two in it.

    Hi Rachel,
Welcome to San Diego. Unfortunately there aren't any rentals available in the area of this paddle that I know of.

Is there a place to rent kayaks around there? I just moved to SD from DC and don't have a kayak as of yet.

I really want to. I have to see how my week transpires before a commit. I am just saying yay, because the whole idea of the san diego kayak club is so great.
