Plastic Casting and Mold Making:
Kids and "Adults": Come and cast your own "Glowie" that lights up! A glowing green gem. A skull with glowing red eyes. An electric blue or purple pink heart. Many shapes and LED colors available, all materials provided limit one per person. The plastic is Instamorph, made from Corn, totally non-toxic, melts in tea water, so it can be safely molded by kids, and re-used again and again by just dumping it back in hot water to re-melt it.
But first, learn how to make a mold from /really/ cheap materials available at local stores: 100% Silicone caulk, corn starch, and a dab of acrylic paint. Less than $10 will make you several molds. Bring stuff you want to duplicate and we will select a few to make molds and cast with Instamorph. The same techniques can be used to make high resolution molds for two part epoxy casting.
This will be a workshop as part of Nerdy New Year:
Scroll down to Schedule, and note the 3pm spot. We will setup at 2:30, then at 3 first half hour will be a class on making Silicon molds, and the hands on activity with casting plastic will start after that.
Can you help? We need two volunteers.
