SDAA Stars at Sycamore Canyon

The San Diego Astronomy Association (SDAA) holds a monthly Star Party on the third Friday of every alternating month at sunset at the Sycamore Canyon/Goodan Ranch Open Space Preserve at the Hwy 67 Staging area.

Located at the east end of Poway, this venue offers a pretty dark sky for being only 19 miles, as the crow flies, from downtown San Diego. There are no homes or business directly around the viewing area and the panoramic view of the city below is amazing.

To access this venue, do not use the street address of the park headquarters. Instead use the park entrance on Hwy 67, ½ mile south of Scripps Poway Parkway. Continue through the gate and up the dirt road about 1½ miles where the Rangers will direct you where to park. Coordinates from Google Earth for the viewing area are: 32°55'47.76"N, 116°58'10.89"W The street address for the park entrance gate is approximately: 13880 highway 67 Lakeside, CA.

**NOTE: All public viewing sessions are weather/overcast dependent and can be cancelled without notice.

NOTE: This event occurs every other (odd) month of the year.

NOTE: This is a non-San Diego Space Network event that is being put on by one of our regional partners, listed here purely for members' information. See the details below for more information on how to sign up.

The San Diego Space Network will not have a public outreach presence at this event, but that may change in the future.
