If you have a Whippet who is (1) shy, (2) still in training or (3) new to this group, this will be a great Meetup for you! We'll meet at a smaller fenced-in dog park so that we can introduce the Whippets in a more easily-controlled environment.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We usually have anywhere from 4 to 7 Whippets show up. It's nice to get Whippets together, because they tend to play the same -- a lot of chasing, growling and barking. Playing Whippets can look and sound ferocious to people who aren't familiar with the breed. At this Meetup, we'll actively manage their play behavior so that the shy and/or new Whippets feel comfortable and safe.
WHAT TO BRING:
- "High currency" treats, like freeze-dried liver, stinky cheese, or diced chicken
- Martingale collar and leash
- A ball, frisbee, or other durable toy made for outdoors
- Water and bowl
- Sunglasses and sunscreen for the humans :)
Rancho Bernardo Dog Park -- http://www.yelp.com/biz/rancho-bernardo-dog-park-san-diego -- according to one Yelp reviewer, "It's south of the baseball diamonds. If you've hit the parking lot for hiking trails, then you've gone too far (cause that's where GPS will take you). There's two small signs at an entrance into a parking lot near the south end of the baseball fields that state, 'dog park.'"
