The weather is supposed to really heat up next week. Let's beat the heat by walking in the morning. If you don't have to be at work exactly at 9:00 AM, why not join us for a walk with some great views, interesting architecture, grand houses, and beautiful parks.
We'll meet at the top of the Lyon stairs at Broadway and Lyon, then head down the hill to Washington. We'll pass the Swedenborgian Church, Historic Firehouse Home, and Waldorf and University Schools on our way to Alta Plaza Park. Oh, the views in this beautiful, neighborhood, terraced park! From there we'll continue on Clay to Lafayette Park, which has amazing vistas and is surrounded by magnificent homes. After visiting the park, we head down Octavia to Vallejo. This street rivals Broadway for grand homes and interesting architecture. We follow Vallejo back to Lyon, and take the famous Lyon stairs one block up to Broadway.
This walk is easy to moderate, with a couple of hills and stairways. It should take at least an hour.
Parking is neighborhood and fairly easy. Most spaces have 2-3 hour limits, but we shouldn't be that long. Muni bus #43 (Masonic) and #3 (Jackson) stop a few blocks away at Jackson and Presidio
