What we're about
The San Francisco Hiking Club organizes hikes and similar outings for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, Intersex hikers and their friends.
Please note: Membership in SF Hiking Club as a dues-paying member is different from this Meetup group's membership. However, our hikes are open to ALL.
Hikes are offered nearly every weekend.
Our website: http://sfhiking.com (http://sfhiking.com/about.html)
There is no need to RSVP for hikes unless we've said otherwise. Just show up at the designated meeting place. For most events, wear comfortable boots or shoes, and bring water, a light lunch, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and layers of clothing adequate to protect yourself from possible weather changes.
The Club also has several overnight camping or backpacking trips a year. For these, an RSVP is usually required.
Although this is not the Club's responsibility, it is customary for hikers to carpool to the trailhead. Rides are generally available for hikers who meet up at the designated carpool meet location, usually under the Safeway sign on Church and Market, but this is not guaranteed. If you do get a ride, please pay your driver for your share of the gas costs as suggested in the hike description.
Hikers must be able to safely perform the hike as described and should bring his/her own gear and provisions. PLEASE READ THE HIKE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY.
All hikes are led by individual members. Hikers must sign a waiver before each hike. Consult the website or ask a club leader if YOU want to hike somewhere-- it's easy to lead a hike, the leaders will help you.
