Christmas For Passionate And Compassionate Cooks

From: user 3.

My Christmas present to myself is to indulge my foodie side and host a vegan dinner for those of you who love to cook - or are at least willing to go to-toe-to-toe with an interesting recipe. (I have plenty if you don't.) So take the Vegan Christmas Cooking challenge and join me at my home in Fairfax for an afternoon and evening of food, conversation, poetry, story-telling and song.

Christmas (And/Or Solstice Bash) For Passionate And Compassionate Cooks

Do you love Christmas too much to spend it with the people you were with last year?

OR - do you hate Christmas but get tired of the stricken look on people's faces when you answer that you're going "nowhere" on the 25th?

Do you seek any excuse to exercise your cooking muscles and share delicious vegan food with others?

Do you have a poem, a story or a song for which you're longing to have an audience?

Then I invite you to join me on December 25th at 3 pm for a celebration of whatever wintry holiday you favor. Personally I will be observing the rites of Saint Lucy's Day - "the year's midnight"  - and what it promises for the future.

Please bring a vegan dish prepared from organic ingredients with your own lovely hands in the category associated with the first letter of your last name as listed below along with any utensils you need to serve it. Please also being a poem, song or story to share. In the interest of resource conservation I'd like to urge you to  bring your own dinner plate, fork and drinking glass -  but there will be disposables available as backup should you forget or if this should prove too burdensome for you. I'll be sending out the address and directions a day or two before Christmas.

If your last name starts with a letter from A to E - please bring a bean, tofu, seitan or tempeh dish.

If your last name starts with a letter from F to K - please bring a cooked vegetable dish (no soups, please)

If your last name starts with a letter from L to R - please bring a dessert (no refined sugar if you can manage it)

If your last name begins with a letter from S to Y - please bring a grain dish

If your last name begins with Z - please bring a dish in whichever of these categories you choose
