What we're about

Social anxiety disorder makes us feel helpless and hopeless.  We isolate ourselves due to our fears of criticism and rejection.  This group was established to challenge these perspectives.  You are not alone!  We provide a safe and empathetic space offering support, friendship, awareness, and treatment options.

We hold twice-monthly online calls focusing on issues that impact our daily lives.  You will meet colleagues with the same concerns and experiences. Your organizers know social anxiety first-hand and recognize what you are going through.  Our primary objective is to provide a secure and confidential environment where you can share your stories and issues and get answers from persons who understand and care.

One of the recommendations for recovery is to avoid those situations that provoke our anxiety or distress. Obviously, that is not always possible. Our daily lives are full of unavoidable stressful situations like work, the classroom, family, restaurants, and other activities.
During these stressful situations, our fear and anxiety-provoking hormones, cortisol and adrenaline have a field day.

We will learn simple techniques to reduce the flow of these stress hormones and help us relax and be more self-assured in these unavoidable situations.

Topics for discussion are chosen by the participants on the calls. These talks are brief, allowing the bulk of the time for members to share experiences, ask questions, or just listen in while meeting others with similar issues and concerns.
