Academic papers are fundamental to science and technology. Whether you are in academia or industry knowing about the research that underlies your field is vital. Journal clubs have been helping people understand papers since the 1800s. San Francisco Journal Club gives you a chance to talk through academic papers you find interesting with a small group in a relaxed environment. You can talk over a paper you are particularly inspired by and highlight the most important parts, or ask questions about bits of a paper you don't understand. The focus will be technology papers but papers from all areas of science and humanities are welcome. Papers can be the most recent cutting edge research, or fundamental classics that are decades (or centuries) old. The only restriction is the paper must be publicly available on the internet for free.
