Hi everyone, I hope those of you with lights (or who can borrow some) can join us for this full moon night ride on the evening of Thursday, May 23! (OK the full moon is technically on May 25, but it will still LOOK like a full moon on the 23.)
We'll meet at the Velo Rouge Cafe (address above) and then ride through the Presidio on the Bay Area Ridge Trail to the Golden Gate Bridge, over the bridge and up Conzelman Drive, and then do a loop in the Marin Headlands consisting of Coastal Trail, Miwok, Old Springs, Marincello, Bobcat, back to the bridge on Bunker Road and back to SF across the bridge and through the Presidio. All these trails are legal.
The ride is roughly 24 miles total on a combination of paved roads, bike paths, fire roads, and a little bit of singletrack. None of the trail sections are highly technical, but it is not a beginner ride due to the lighting conditions.
We should get back to SF by around 10:30 p.m. and for those of us who want to get some dinner or a drink afterwards we can ride over to one of the Thai or Japanese places on Clement St. near the Presidio after the ride. A few of them are open late for dinner.
Please bring a helmet and good lights (i.e. lights strong enough to light up the trail in front of you). We'll ride at a social pace with no rider left behind.
I am limiting the group size to 10 just because of the length of the ride and my desire to keep the group together from start to finish. Hope to see some of you for the full moon!
