China Camp + (optional) back side

I hope you can join us for our group's (slightly belated) one-year anniversary ride at China Camp.  We're having a post-ride picnic/potluck/social hour in the picnic area at China Camp (at the picnic tables on the beach) following this ride, so please join us for that, too!

We'll meet at the kiosk at the entrance to the China Camp State Park campground (right off N. San Pedro Road), and ride a roughly 15-16 mile loop, with more or less mileage possible depending on whether we split into smaller groups (which depends on total turnout).

Parking is free and very easy on the shoulders of N. San Pedro Road. The route will be: climbing up Bay View, to Echo, to the top of the old Nike radar site, down around the back side, back up the fire road (backtracking to Echo), down Echo, across to the east side of the park on Bay View and Oak Ridge, and then back to the starting point on Shoreline.

The track is fast-rolling hard-packed dirt singletrack, with a few short paved road and fireroad connector sections. There is not much sustained climbing because the highest point in the park is only somewhere around 900 feet. The route is maybe 90% beginner and intermediate singletrack, with a few tricky advanced sections on both sides of the hill which require more caution.

I'm setting a limit of 30 riders for this one, so we can ride in groups of around 8-10 based on who many of us want to ride the back side and/or faster or slower paces.   All groups will ride with a "no rider left behind" policy.

Hope to see you all out there!

Please read the group's rider responsibility and liability statement:

Love China Camp. Damn that climb though! I did some cardio today to avoid future embarrassment. :D

China Camp: fresh like spring with a brisk core group keeping the pace, cutting through awesome single track of scenic views and a good mix of climb to shred.

Mike, I am going to have to run after the ride to go back to work, but if you and others can hang out and grill or picnic at China Camp, you should definitely do so!

Next time I will join for sure. I'm in the process of demo'ing bikes and can't get one before 10am so would be too late. Would love to ride China Camp again. Have fun!

Awesome. :) I'm at Bush at Larkin but I can meet you anywhere else if it's more convenient, like Bush at Franklin, or in the Mission.
