Mike Friedman (friedo): Building Your 1st App w/ MongoDB & Perl

  • Nov 20, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This talk introduces the features of MongoDB by demonstrating how one can build a simple library application. The talk will cover the basics of MongoDB's document model, query language, and API. In addition, we will learn how to use MongoDB within a typical web application framework.

Mike is a Perl evangelist and software engineer at 10gen (the MongoDB company) and the maintainer of the MongoDB CPAN module. He's making a special trek out from the 10gen HQ in New York to speak with us.

The following evening Mike will be presenting the same material for our friends, so if you miss it in SF (or just want to see it again), you'll have another opportunity to catch this great presentation.

NOTA BENE: You must provide your full name and check in with building security in order to attend this meetup. If your meetup profile does not contain your real name, please update it before the event.

I was unfamiliar with MongoDB, so this was a nice introduction to some of the concepts behind it. I look forward to learning more about MongoDb.

I won't be attending due to the long drive and bad weather...

I haven't used meetup in a very long time, and I don't see a way to cancel my RSVP on

I had a +2 but only one can make it, sorry for the late notice. My +1 will be Jennifer Chang, hope that's not a problem (I told her to bring ID). Thanks! Arthur

Do this provide water? Or we should bring a bottle of water? Thanks

A reminder to all: Because of building security requirements for our host, we NEED YOUR FULL NAME. You will NOT be allowed into the building tomorrow if you have not provided your full name in the RSVP list.

If your Meetup profile does not include both your first and your last names, PLEASE update it ASAP.

Tomorrow afternoon I will be sending the RSVPs to our host to pass on to their building security. If you do not have your first/last name on the RSVP list by that time you WILL BE DROPPED from the RSVPs.

Thanks for your help in this, all!
