Create Your Own Job (or Re-shape the One You're In)

A formidable challenge for job seekers is to keep an open-mind and be creative in your approach to finding right work. It can be easy to fall into the trap of reading job postings and trying your hardest to fit yourself into the job description. The jobs often feel as if they are written for someone else and the process leaves us uninspired and tired. This weeks SFPCN presenter is here to rally the forces in thinking outside the job posting!

On Tuesday SFPCN invites Career Transition Coach Marcia Davis-Cannon who will open your mind to creating your own job and walk you through the process. Learn a path to circumvent the barriers which keep you from finding a traditional job in a traditional way.

Take-away's you can expect from Marcia's presentation are:

  • understanding the value of creating your own job, whether your goal is entrepreneurship or employment
  • sensing the power that comes from taking control of your job search, no longer victim to resume black holes
  • learning the key steps in the job-creation process
  • receiving inspiration from the stories of many people like you who created their own jobs
  • take-home worksheets that will facilitate the thought process of finding your best job creation

This highly interactive session will include live coaching to help a few members of the audience begin the process of creating their own job.

About the Speaker:

Marcia Davis-Cannon had a 20-year corporate career in operations, finance and product management before following a new calling. She has an MBA from Wharton and a coaching certificate from Western Seminary. She is director of large group meetings for Career
Action Ministry and an officer of her Toastmasters club. Marcia creates a safe environment for self-discovery, helping people grasp their own remarkable potential, and nurturing those "A-ha!" moments when someone sees the connection between how they are designed
and where they can best serve in the world. Marcia leads "Uncover Your LifeStory" and "Uncover Your Narrative" groups at Deborah's Palm, "Uncover Your Calling" at multiple locations, and coaches private clients. She helps people work through challenges to find, create, and keep work that fits.
