San Francisco Quidditch Practice
Come join us for quidditch practice on Saturday from 1-4pm in Golden Gate Park at Big Rec fields! WHAT IS QUIDDITCH: Quidditch is a fun, fast-paced co-ed sport played by thousands of players in dozens of countries, including 150 teams in the US alone. SHOULD I COME: Yes! All experience levels are welcome and we usually have a good mix. Never played before? We'll teach you to play and you can scrimmage with us or watch. Please leave the kiddos at home, though. No players under the age of 18 can participate. After practice we will have dinner and hang out, and new players are always welcome. WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable clothing, water, sunscreen and athletic shoes. DIRECTIONS & PARKING: The fields are close to Lincoln and 9th, where 9th turns into MLK Drive inside the park. Look for the blue and white hoops in the big open fields meet that meet at the Big Rec baseball diamonds. There is street parking around, but it may be a few blocks away. If you are bringing anything heavy, you may want to drop it off at the fields first. We have carpools from all the way to San Jose, just post if you need a ride. More information about Big Rec fields can be found here: The Rules: 1. Be nice! We welcome all levels of players so understand some people are still learning! Ridicule and showboating are not our style! 2. Be communicative. Try to resolve any issues through friendly pointing out. E.g. : "Hey, you were hit." or "You can't tackle them; they don't have a ball" 3. Be open to feedback. Newbies: Know that your team, especially your beater or chaser partners, might shout instructions at you. Quidditch relies on communication. If you feel they are being rude or could communicate better, talk to them during water break and let them know for next time. 4. No conflicts on the pitch! If there is an issue you can't solve on the pitch in a friendly way, talk to one of our captains (Matthew, Dalia, or Janos) and they will take care of the issue. DO NOT get in a direct conflict with the person. 5. No recruiting for other teams! No recruiting for teams other than Skyfighters Quidditch Club ( So far our regulars already follow these rules because they are wonderfully nice people! They are laid out here so we're all on the same page. Let's play some quidditch!
