Riak and Haskell at Bump Technologies

Hi All,

I'm happy to report that the next Riak Meetup will be on November 1st at Bump HQ in Mountain View - the first time we've made it to the South Bay! (Sorry it took this long.)

And our gracious hosts will also be our presenters. Here are the details for the evening:

7:00 - Beer, Pizza, and Other Refreshments

7:30 - Riak and Haskell at Bump

Will Moss, Bump Technologies

Recently named the #7 free app of all time by Apple, Bump is a quick and easy way to connect two phones, simply by bumping them together. With over 50 million users sharing everything from photos to contact information, Bump migrated to Riak to ensure consistent response times and easy scaling.

In the talk we'll share details on how we've been using Riak and some lessons learned. Then we'll dive into a tool we've been working on to consolidate object resolution and efficiently parallelize fetches.

8:15 - Networking and Generally Enlightening Database and Distributed Systems Chatter

Seats are limited, so make sure to register.

Let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you on November 1st.

It was interesting, nothing quite like a bunch of smart people talking about they have done, and in an open and engaging manner.

It certainly made one more interested in Haskell too!

My only suggestion would be to provide more background and concrete use cases to the audience, slowing it down a bit for us slowpokes.

In any case, it was informative and presented with real verve. Well worth attending.

Regardless of proximity to Caltrain, that still means $10 r/t to get there and home no earlier than 11:00p on a Tuesday for us east bay dwellers.

Kev is right. I made it from our office door to the train in two minutes yesterday.

It's like 3 steps from Caltrain.
