Startup Fundraising

Attorney Eric H. Milliken will provide a step-by-step guide for startup fundraising. He will discuss investor friendly corporate structures. He will discuss the differences between seed, angel and venture capital funding cycles. Mr. Milliken will provide advice on how to reach out to investor, what to say and how to get a meeting. Finally he will discuss investor due diligence and investor terms for all stages of startups.

 

Intellectual Property for Startups

Attorney Mark Koo will provide a overview of patents, and trademarks.  In particular, he will outline the key steps needed to file a patent application for a startup. He will also go through the legal protections provided by having a patent and also discuss some of the key details which a startup will need to be aware of when dealing with patents such as when would be an ideal time to file a patent.  Finally, there will be a discussion of strategies to increase the value of patents.

Eric Miliken is an attorney specializing in working with Silicon Valley startups. Mark Koo prepares and prosecutes patent applications in technology related patent law.  Mark has held various engineering roles at software companies in Silicon Valley including early venture startups.
