About the Panelists

Steve Xi is the founder and managing partner of Eastlink Capital. He is also an adviser and managing director (China) at Riverwood Capital, a tech-focused global growth capital private equity firm with over $2 billion in assets under management.

Based at Riverwood’s Menlo Park office, Steve focuses on Internet, software/IT services and digital media investments related to China. Prior to joining Riverwood in 2007, Mr. Xi was a managing director at The Hina Group Fund I, where he focused on expansion-stage investments in the technology and digital media space. Since 2004, Steve has invested in several successful companies including MobileIron (Nasdaq: MOBL), Framedia (sold to Focus Media (Nasdaq: FMCN) for $183 million), Vance Info Technologies (Nasdaq: PACT), and RenRen (NYSE: Renn). Before joining Hina in late 2004, Steve was an acting executive vice president of corporate development at VanceInfo. Prior to that, he co-founded and managed an e-commerce startup with locations in Silicon Valley and Beijing.

Before moving to Silicon Valley, Steve worked in investment banking and principal investing  in New York City  and Hong Kong. He started his investment banking career with Credit Suisse First Boston  in New York City.

Steve holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Physics from Jilin University. He  also spent one year in graduate studies at the Ford Foundation Economic Training Center at Remin University of China.

 

Salil Pradhan is a venture partner and early stage investor with Draper Nexus Ventures.  Salil has experience as an adviser to corporate limited partnerships on product strategy, partnerships with startups, and  mergers and aquisitions.  His current focus is on seed/early stage startups in verticals including retail, healthcare and agriculture with an emphasis on IoT (Internet of things).

Previously, Salil spent 10 years at Hewlett Packard in a variety of roles, including CTO of HP's enterprise RFID/IoT business,  where he helped create and grow the nascent IoT solutions business to $100M in revenue.

He serves on the Board of Momentfeed Inc., is a mentor at the Plug & Play Tech center and Cincinnati-based Brandery, and an advisor to a number of tech startups. Salil is also an advisor to Washington, D.C.-based Govonomy, which helps technology startups growth into government markets. He has also served on the advisory boards of UCLA's WINMEC and UCSD's Center for Wireless Communications.

A founder of two startups, Salil's all around experience as a entrepreneur, venture capitalist, product executive and corporate strategist makes him a sought-after panelist and judge at venture pitch events. He has been frequently quoted in leading publications. Salil has been issued 54 US patents, in areas related to sensors, IoT and computer systems. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Northeastern University in Boston and a B.E. (Computer Engineering) from the University of Pune, India.

Bill Reichert is the managing director of  Garage Technology Ventures. Bill spent most of his early career as an entrepreneur and operating executive. Since joining Garage in 1998, Bill has focused on early-stage information technology and materials science companies.  Bill and Garage have helped many great companies get their start, including Pandora Media, LeftHand Networks, Kaboodle, and Tripwire.

Bill has been a board director or board observer at CaseStack, WhiteHat Security, ClearFuels Technology, Simply Hired, MiaSole, D.light Design, ThermoCeramix, and VisaNow, among others. He is a co-founder of F50 and TimeJoy, and is an advisor to Playlist. Prior to Garage, Bill was a co-founder or senior executive in several venture-backed technology startups, including Trademark Software, The Learning Company, and Academic Systems. Earlier in his career, he worked at McKinsey & Company, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., and the World Bank.

Bill earned a B.A. at Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He was a founding board member and served as chairman of the Churchill Club.  He is an adviser to the Women’s Startup Lab, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

 

Ephraim Lindenbaum is the founder and managing director of Advance Ventures, a Silicon Valley based venture investment fund and venture accelerator that invests in seed and early stage startups. Founded in 1999, Advance Ventures has consistently achieved meaningful exits with its portfolio companies across its core market sectors.
