Candlelight Yin Yoga

  • 2 days ago · 7:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

In this harmonious fusion of restorative yoga, yin yoga, meditation, and aromatherapy, you can give yourself permission to surrender to your body's own capacity to self-heal. If you’re looking for a place to unwind and relieve stress, this the class for you.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin yoga focuses on long holding positions to allow the synovial fluid to release in the joints, which creates more joint lubrication. Working with the meridians based in Chinese philosophy, yin yoga poses serve as a type of needle-less acupuncture, activating specific meridians associated with various organs and emotional qualities.

What can this class do for me?

It can help you:
~ Develop and/or strengthen your personal meditation practice
~ Learn stress-reduction techniques
~ Learn to tune down the volume of the inner critic and be present in the moment
~ Learn relaxation techniques to take off the mat and into daily life
~ Develop a self-care practice and reap its rewards
~ Learn to become more at peace with yourself and your current life situation

This class is taught by Amy Swart, MFT, RYT

Amy is passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga she has experienced, and helping her students discover it for themselves. She has been practicing since 2004 and teaching since 2008 where she studied with her teacher, Swami Santhisprasad, at School of Santhi in India. Alongside her passion for yoga, she also holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Creative Expression. She offers a safe and healing space for individuals from all walks of life, and classes are taught with the intention of removing energetic blocks on the subconscious and conscious in efforts to have more fluid communication between one’s higher self and the day-to-day self, and to move into the direction of wholeness. Please visit www.amyswart.com to see more of her offerings.

What do I need to bring? Comfortable clothing, and open mind! Be prepared to do a little chanting (no singing talent required). This is a class for all levels. Modifications will be offered for those who need them. Please try not to eat anything one hour before class starts. No mat is necessary since they are provided for you free of charge. If you'd like your own mat, however, feel free to bring it.
