What we're about
There must be young LGBTQ Christians in SF - and you may know some at your church - but where to find the rest?! This is an opportunity to get as many young SF LGBTQ Christians as we can together to build community. This event is modeled after two other awesome phenomena. Queer For Christ is an ecumenical, young-adult LGBTQ Christian fellowship in Washington, DC, that meets for happy hours, discussions, and service events, outside of the churches. And some of us recently met up at a recent conference in Denver hosted by the national organization Q Christian Fellowship ( https://www.qchristian.org/ ). Especially with the influx of young workers from around the country, we believe we can plant a similar small faith community here in San Francisco, meeting monthly for socials, discussions, workshops, affirming church visits, charity/service opportunities, and seasonal parties.
In February and April 2018, we had our first two socials at the bar SF Mix in the Castro. Around 30 young LGBTQ Christians showed up, put on name tags, bought some drinks or sodas, and had a blast! We will probably meet every 1-2 months, and start having events aside from mixers as our members plan them. To invite others, add them to http://www.facebook.com/groups/2056172874655132/. You can forward group and event info to any friends, young adult groups, or LGBTQ church ministries you think may be interested. We are not affiliated with any church or denomination. This event is geared toward age 21-45. All genders, sexual orientations, Christian denominations, and levels of religious/spiritual affiliation are welcome.
